The exhortations and warnings of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, no less than several times recently to the ministers and executives of the ND, that he will not tolerate inappropriate and arrogant behavior, it was certain, for those who know the prime minister well, that it was not a “blank letter” and this turned out to be the case – as government sources commented on the case of Lefteris Avgenakis and the episode that the former – now – ND MP had at the airport, arguing and being violent against an employee.
With the notification of the incident at Megaros Maximos, the reflexes were put into action immediately, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis particularly annoyed and angry to refer the MP of Heraklion for deletion. The prime minister’s intentions were given by the government representative very early in the morning. “For the cases of the performance of government work, time can be given, but in cases of behavior, these are judged instantaneously and logically, “you know who I am”, they are not accepted,” he characteristically said, predicting what would follow. “In matters of behavior the Prime Minister does not lift a fly on his sword” was also the comment of government sources, photographing the developments that followed the episode. According to the same sources, the Prime Minister’s decision was taken instantaneously, the moment he saw the video, which went viral in the media and social media, drawing the ire of its viewers.
And given the emphatic warning of the Prime Minister, in the past and most recently before the polls of the European elections, for no tolerance for arrogance, the deletion was considered certain as in the specific case of Lefteris Avgenakis, there were also proofs, which in fact did not only concern arrogant behavior, but also aggressive action by a political figure of his faction, which could not go unanswered and without due consequences. After all this, according to information, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, between his visit to the OSY depot in Rentis and the Ministry of Health, ordered that all the necessary procedures be carried out so that Mr. Avgenakis is led to leave the party as soon as possible .
According to well-informed sources, the anger of the prime minister was further maximized by the fact that while he is fighting the “battle of everyday life” bending over the problems that plague the citizen, and while continuing the “autopsies” yesterday, he found himself in her garage For OSY to have a personal opinion on the problems in transportation and to communicate government policies to solve them, the Avgenakis case arose to cloud this effort.
And while the decisions had already been made with the publicized video at the Maximos Mansion, despite this, a parallel search for information and evidence was also being conducted for additional complaints against Lefteris Avgenakis, according to which, in addition to the incident with the airport employee, he allegedly he also threatened a probationary police officer with an adverse transfer when he rushed to the scene of the heated incident. All complaints have been made by members of the Federation of Trade and Service Workers’ Unions. “When the colleagues asked for the presence of the police, a fellow police officer who was a cadet from what we later learned approached him and asked him for an explanation about this whole thing, told him don’t touch me, I have parliamentary immunity and look why he would I’m taking you away,” Federation President Kostas Diamantis told SKAI.
In addition to his removal from the ND’s K.O., the deputy of Heraklion also suffered the parliamentary sanctions that entail such behaviors. According to the censure addressed to him by the Speaker of the House for inappropriate behavior in contempt of the Constitution and state institutions, he was banned from parliamentary meetings for 15 days. However, Mr. Avgenakis remains a member of parliament as despite the removal, he kept his parliamentary seat, remaining an independent member of parliament for Heraklion.
Continuation also follows in the Justice after the lawsuit filed against Mr. Avgenakis for insulting and threatening, last night, the employee with whom he had an argument at the airport. As the MP himself stated, if the official moves against him, he will himself request the lifting of his immunity in order to appear before the natural judge. At the same time, it is recalled that the case involved the intervention of the public prosecutor, and in particular the head of the Athens District Attorney’s Office, Antonis Eleftherianos, requested a preliminary investigation, in which the offenses to be investigated include:
-Violence against an employee
-Disruption of the operation of a public benefit enterprise
– Unlawful violence
-Deterioration of a thing that serves to serve a common benefit
