Tones rose in the Plenary Hall of the Parliament during his speech Kyriakos Velopouloswhen the President of the Hellenic Solution claimed from the podium that the former member of parliament of the Hellenic Solution, Pavlos Sarakis, received a legal fee of 30 million euros from the USA for the Novartis case.

“It is Sarakis, I found out the day before yesterday that he took 30 million,” said Kyriakos Velopoulos characteristically, with the floor taken by the parliamentary representative of New Democracy, Thanos Pleuris, explaining that the claim of the President of the Hellenic Solution is essentially proof that the protected witnesses of Novartis, illegally obtained protection status in Greece as they had a financial benefit.

“After this public statement by the leader of a party in the Parliament, the judiciary will assess whether protected witnesses who have received 30 million euros with their lawyer can be in this protection status,” Thanos emphasized from the New Democracy parliamentary seats Side.

However, at the beginning of his placement, again in high tones, Kyriakos Velopoulos had also left sharp points against his former executives, who were outside the national line: “In the Hellenic Solution we take the head of anyone who moves outside the national line. When I found out that a member of parliament was going in and out of the embassy, I threw him out of the Pyx Lax party.” A little while later, his colleagues clarified that his report did not concern Pavlos Sarakis but Antonis Mylonakis.

The comment of the Minister of Justice was particularly telling, with George Floridis complaining that although the party of Kyriakos Velopoulos “constantly sells transparency and ethics”, he admitted that “there was definitely a suitcase which contained 30 million euros and which was handed over to a member of parliament of his party until 10 days ago”.

“These funds have been declared to the Greek authorities and are taxed normally”, was the answer of Pavlos Sarakis from the Plenary Chamber, with the independent Member of Parliament underlining that the fee he received for his legal services “is that and corresponds to the amount of compensation received by the US government from the multinational company Novartis for unfair practices. However, he also pointed his arrows at the President of the Hellenic Solution, commenting that he is sorry “if Mr. Velopoulos or anyone else gets bitter”.
