The Greek Prime Minister congratulated the MEP on his election to the European Parliament and expressed the hope that very soon he will be out of prison for good
Meeting with the elected MEP of New Democracy Fred Beleris , Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had today Monday at the Maximos Palace.
At the beginning of their meeting, the Greek Prime Minister congratulated the MEP on his election to the European Parliament and expressed the hope that very soon he will be out of prison for good.
“I have many reasons, my dear Fredis, to be happy to welcome you today at Megaros Maximos. First, let me congratulate you on your election as a Greek MEP now, in Brussels and Strasbourg, with New Democracy. I am sure that you will fulfill your duties in full.
Let me tell you how glad I am that this great adventure seems to be coming to an end. The obvious thing was done, he got the license so you could exercise your duties and take the oath. I hope that very soon you will be out of prison for good, to close this chapter for all of us, to move forward, to look forward” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
For his part, Fredis Beleris thanked him and pointed out that he will honor the trust he showed in him, saying that his goal is to help the “Greek National Minority to stand in ancestral homes”.
“President, I would like to thank you in person for supporting me all this time. I will honor the trust you have placed in me by putting me on the European ballot. I think that the rule of law, the right to elect and be elected is not self-evident for the country where we live. I want to help them. To also help the Greek National Minority to stand in the ancestral hearths, but and for this state to approach and become a member of the European family” said Mr. Beleris.
“That’s what we want too and you should know – besides, I think I’ve proven this in practice – that I stand by the people of the Greek National Minority. We have every reason to want an Albania that makes progress on these issues, that comes closer to Europe, but respecting its European commitments. That, I think, is a common goal that we all want to work towards.” concluded the prime minister.
It is recalled that Fredi Beleris arrived earlier today at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, where he received a warm welcome after his permission to move to Strasbourg was approved by the Albanian authorities.
