The trial with former minister Giannos Papantoniou, who is on trial for the case of accounts that were discovered years ago, is now in its final stages, as a result of which he and his wife became involved in criminal proceedings.
After the end of the hearing process which has started for a long time the prosecutor of the seat proposed the guilt of the former minister and his wife Stavroulas Kourakou as well as a close associate of his.
The prosecuting official questioned the origin of the money 2.5 million euros which the ex-minister displayed in a fifteen-year run, claiming that the ex-minister’s scenario is sham.
According to the prosecutor, the version that most of the money came from a relative of his in Niger and from money he had given to his ex-wife, were not considered capable of providing answers to the questions that have arisen about their origin.
The prosecutor went a step further by implying that the origin of the money may have been related to the ministerial duties of Giannos Papantoniou.
The court’s decision is expected next September
