The minister spoke about the internationalization strategy that the ministry has been following in recent years, which will bear fruit soon
The Minister of Education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, spoke on SKAI radio earlier today about “great interest from foreign universities” to come to Greece.
The minister spoke about the internationalization strategy followed by the ministry in recent years, which will bear fruit soon and as he said, “in the coming academic year the announcements will be made”.
According to the words of Mr. Pierrakakis, there is also interest in the part of establishing branches of major universities abroad, which will aim to attract students from Greece, but also branches which will aim to host foreign students for the specialization of their studies in fields where Greece has added value, such as archaeology.
The second part of internationalization concerns the Greek HEIs, which through the Recovery Fund have been invited to develop joint master’s degrees with foreign universities.
Several names have “fallen” on the table of “closed” discussions and more are expected to be said during the Rectors’ Synod that began today in Patras and which Mr. Pierrakakis will attend, without however being something to announce at the moment.
“We want to maximize the opportunities”, said the minister characteristically and repeated that the goal is for Greece to become a regional center of education.
