What does the re-election of the German politician to the presidency of the Commission for the next five years mean, according to what the SYRIZA president says
In her re-election Ursula von der Leyen the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, mentions in his post, criticizing the prime minister at the same time.
“It is very reasonable for Kyriakos Mitsotakis to applaud the re-election of Ursula Von Der Leyen to the position of President of the European Commission,” says Mr. Kasselakis and adds: “Her re-election means another five years:
-Economic & social inequalities
-Decision-making behind closed doors with opacity by the European Directorate of Interests
– Inaction in dealing with the climate crisis
-Silence against the Turkish occupation and invasion of Cyprus and in general against Turkish provocation
-Keeping an equal distance in the carnage taking place in Gaza
-No initiative to end the war in Ukraine but instead further involvement.
What Mr. Mitsotakis is doing in Greece, that is.”
Concluding, he underlines: “It is the duty of all progressive forces both in Greece and in Europe to restore hope and defend our common European values: With democratic struggles, convergences in common requests to strengthen the weak and of course with the defense of the state law and human rights”.
