The garden of the Presidential Palace will remain open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the Republic, tomorrow Sunday, July 21, the garden of the Presidential Palace will remain open to the public, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
At 11:00, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulouthere will be a presentation of 60 works by well-known cartoonists, who captured with their pen, in the newspapers of the time, the first year of the Postcolonial period, from July 1974 to August 1975. The exhibition is held with the cooperation of the Club of Greek cartoonists.
From 11:30 the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, the MUSICA choir of the Megaros Musikis, the Camerata Junior-Orchestra of Youth of Friends of Music, the String Quartet of the Athens Conservatory and the bands of the Armed Forces will perform, among others, works of Greeks composers, such as Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Yannis Markopoulos, Mimi Plessas, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Stavros Xarhakos, Marios Tokas, who during the junta period expressed their opposition to the dictatorial regime and became symbols of free expression and spiritual upliftment in the Post-colonial period.
