The mayor of Athens proceeded to change the entire administration of the Municipal Police and the Municipal Police departments Harry Doukasfollowing the dismantling of the ring of extortionists, in which the arrested and already remanded head of the Municipal Police also participated.

“We are determined not to allow any criminal and delinquent behavior,” said Mr. Doukas, while emphasizing: “We will show zero tolerance for cases of corruption, mismanagement and mismanagement, as well as for behaviors that undermine the work of our Municipal Authority which has as aimed at improving the lives of the Athenians. We take every measure necessary to prevent and eliminate these phenomena, wherever and if they exist.”

THE Municipality of Athens has already launched a series of actions – and before the revelation of the latest incidents – with the aim of the smooth and transparent licensing and operation of the shops, as well as the control that must be carried out by the competent municipal services.

In a related announcement, it is stated that, among other things, in the immediate future, the universal upgrade of the Municipality’s information system is foreseen, through which there will be a complete mapping of the stores, the drastic change of the Regulations of the stores, which will establish strict conditions for establishment and operation but and the obligation of professionals to post a QR Code at the entrance of their shops, with the operating license, the exact space allocated to them for the table seats and the relevant plan that will have been drawn up by an engineer.

At the same time, the responsible deputy mayor of Municipal Police and Common Areas, Thomas Georgiadisis working on changes to the way the municipal police operate, which will extend to the overall management of complaints in order to deal quickly and effectively with potential phenomena of corruption and maladministration.
