SYRIZA requests an update on the catastrophic fire that hit Attica from the responsible Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection V. Kikilia.

In his post, the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, notes that during the visit he made on August 12 to the Ministry’s Operations Center, he was informed by the head of the Fire Department that a total of 32 aerial extinguishing means had been operating since the start of the fire. “However, both from reports in the media and from testimonies of residents, the reported number of aerial vehicles that were operating is disputed,” the party president says in the post and adds:

“In order to fully inform the Greek people who have the right to know, I convey to you, as the competent Head of the SYRIZA-PS Committee, the request of the Official Opposition, and personally of the President St. Kasselakis, as we were granted the material from the relevant recording system, as well as the file with the relevant flight permits, from the start of the fire in Attica, until 21:30, when the aerial vehicles stopped flying due to darkness.

We intend to request the data through the parliamentary channel as well, however, since this is a more time-consuming process, we request immediate answers that the public has a right to know.”
