There is a multi-page letter of complaint from Christos Spirtzis to the Ethics Committee, which is expected to rekindle the “fire” in SYRIZA
A “limited duration” truce for SYRIZA? The climate in the official opposition today Friday was unifying, even though the Popi Tsapanidou effectively put a “block” in the entrance of Stefanos Kasselakis to the Parliament. However, Nikos Pappas spoke with warm words about Ms. Tsapanidou, and there is a wait and see attitude on this particular issue.
In SYRIZA at the moment there is a climate of truce, but the question is how long it will last, and it seems unlikely to last long. This is because, according to information from SKAI and Antonis Anzoletou, there is a multi-page letter of complaint from Christos Spirtzis to the Ethics Committee, which is expected to rekindle the “fire” in SYRIZA when it becomes public.
The Commission is meeting on the issue of Mr. Spirtzis on Tuesday, although it is not certain that a decision will be issued on Tuesday. However, Mr. Kasselakis, speaking last Tuesday, to the Parliamentary Group had announced the removal of Mr. Spirtzis. “It is not a political point of view to call on the television the president of the party to resign, against the will of the organs and members of SYRIZA” Mr. Kasselakis had specifically mentioned on Tuesday.
“The Ethics Committee may be following its own procedure, but it is clear that executives who express themselves in this way are consciously choosing to put themselves out of the party. Let the rest of us go ahead” he had explained.
The swearing in of Popi Tsapanidou
Popi Tsapanidou swore a religious oath to the national delegation.
Upon entering the Parliament, Ms. Tsapanidou was asked by journalists to comment on the accusations against her, that her choice to fill the orphan seat prevents Kasselakis from entering the Parliament.
“We said things in the announcement, we have many things to say afterwards,” commented while answering the question if she is afraid of being deleted from SYRIZA for this choice, she herself said meaningfully “we’ll see what happens” she answered herself.
SYRIZA State MP Popi Tsapanidou also stated that “I am also taking on my duties. I was given a first briefing by the president of the Parliamentary Group, Nikos Pappa, and the director of the K.O., Thanasis Moraitis, in a very good atmosphere about how we will work in the future. I am determined to give my best and to work with all my strength, serving the interests of the Greek people.”
The new president of the KO of SYRIZA, Nikos Pappas, stated for his part that “as of today, Popi Tsapanidou is a member of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance. It is a worthy member of the faction and with its competence, which it has proven in the past, it will improve our possibilities to intervene in the Parliament and to communicate the positions of SYRIZA, on many issues, to society”.
