He spoke online from Himarra to and in the show “Today» the ND MEP, Fredi Beleris.

“I want to thank you all this time for your support while I was imprisoned. 16 months have passed, I feel a redemption that this suffering has come to an end”, were the first words of Mr. Beleris, who emphasized that his legal battle continues, announcing that he will appeal to all levels of Albanian justice, in which, however, he did not hide that he has “no hope and no confidence”.

At the same time, he announced that he intends to appeal to European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR)from where he expects to be vindicated, from the position of MEP now. “I want to thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for anointing me as a candidate, and the Greek people for honoring me with their trust and believing in the struggle of the Greek national minority for the self-evident,” as the Greek MEP said.

“I would like to shed light on Albania’s problems for this country to become a member of the EU”

Regarding yesterday’s celebrations for his release, he commented:

“People are really excited and proud. It is perhaps one of the few times in its history that this nation feels that it is not alone. In this fight, he has the Greek government, the Greek prime minister, all the Greek parties, but also the Greek people together. It is a just demand of the residents here for the right to self-determination, the right to own property, to live in a state-of-law, to have their right to vote and be elected respected. Unfortunately, all this is required in Mr. Rama’s Albania.

At the same time, Fredis Beleris also answered what he envisages to offer to the European Parliament from the position of MEP, pointing out that he will give the burden to his hometown of Heimarra. “I am not vindictive, I want Albania to become a member of the European family. But he should become a member because he will deserve it and not for free.”

Finally, when asked about the situation in Himarra, he replied:

“My fellow citizens here have a feeling of injustice. The 4th August election was a farce, the entire sub-state was settled in Himarra to elect Lord Rama’s chosen one. He is the master of the political game here, he has jailed the leader of the Opposition without even being charged, while of course he is tight-lipped with the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Unfortunately, there is no separation of powers in Albania.”
