The announcements of the prime minister Kyriakou Mitsotakis at Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) with the long-awaited benefits package were the center of attention during the usual briefing of the political editors by the Paul Marinaki at noon on Thursday.

“What we are not used to is the prime minister pulling out a big basket to make himself temporarily happy, mortgaging the next generations. The central priority of the government is to increase the incomes of the citizens”, said the government representative characteristically, assuring that “we are on a course for average salary 1,500 euros»

As Mr. Marinakis pointed out, the government is not considering reducing the VAT on olive oil, however it will continue in the direction of permanent tax exemptions. “Besides, as it has been shown in countries that proceeded with a temporary VAT reduction to deal with accuracy, this measure not only did not reach the consumer, but led to a price reduction, with Spain as a typical example. On the contrary, Greece has for another month lower food inflation than the European average”, he added.

“Rehabilitation works of school complexes in New and Old Penteli are almost completed”

With the provisions of the Ministry of the Interior “for immediate solutions and rapid merit-based staffing of the State as well as improvement of the services of the Local Self-Government”, the introductory presentation by Pavlos Marinakis began. He also referred to the increase in declared jobs through the Job Card, the application of which was extended from July to industry and retail trade.

The restoration works in school complexes in Palaia and Nea Penteli with a budget of 500,000 euros have almost been completed, he emphasized. The government representative also recalled the opening date of September 6 for the TIF.
