“The period of the Mitsotakis government is a time of huge inequalities”
In the context of his speech in Karditsa, the President of PASOK-Movement of Change, Nikos Androulakis, commented on the messages of Kyriakos Mitsotakis from the TIF.
“The people trusted Mr. Mitsotakis and what is the result? From bad to worse. He got 41% in the national elections last year, because the people chose the worst as a criterion, but in the end we always have the worst in front of us. The Mitsotakis period of government is a time of huge inequalities. According to data from ELSTAT, wages in Greece as a percentage of GDP are the penultimate in Europe. Greece is 26th in wages among the 27 countries of Europe. In business profits as a percentage of GDP, however, Greece is 3rd in Europe.
In all normal countries, business profits keep pace with wage costs. Businesses win, the worker wins. The reverse is happening here,” he pointed out.
Regarding the Prime Minister’s new announcements on the housing crisis, Mr. Androulakis recalled: “Two years ago we submitted a comprehensive program of social housing, the abolition of the Golden Visa and restrictions on short-term rentals. Mr. Mitsotakis ignored us and is now “crying” over the disaster for which he is responsible. 42% is the rent increase for families and 51% for students in four years».
Referring to the stakes of the internal party process, Mr. Androulakis emphasized: “What do we want PASOK to be? We are not only electing the President of PASOK. We elect and choose which political ethos and political program the next government of Greece should have. Do we want power for power’s sake? Or do we want a party that serves the people and the country? This is the dilemma on October 6th and 13th. And we need to talk politically and not with conspiracies and insinuations».
“Some people have a short memory, because they very simply build their ambitions on the narrative of “defeat”. The returning PASOK is not defeated. Defeated will be New Democracy and the populists, who want our country to be a doomed country, with few opportunities and limited prospectshe added.
“I invite those who want Greece to change, whatever party they voted for in the last national elections, to come to us, to embrace their anxieties, to give real hope and strength to the entire homeland. Since some people are “in a hurry”, let them remember our history and stop talking. Struggle, toil and effort are required. And as Crete greened, we can green all of Greece. To prove that not only PASOK has not closed its historical cycle, but is returning born again through its traditional principles and values, but with a modern progressive program, which provides patriotic, social, fair solutions for the Greece of the futureconcluded the President of PASOK-Movement for Change.
