First, making a comment about the forest service after trees fell on the Aphidna rail network, he said that “there is a law from ’79 that says the railroad is required to clear 10 meters on either side when it is required,” adding:

“Currently there is no request from the OSE for such a thing. In any case, we have ordered the cleaning of the forest since April to avoid fires, even at the urging of the forest service. This year alone, DEDDIE has so far done 50 million cleanings around the pillars, and obviously where there is a major transportation project, that is where we will cut. Because there is also a natural fire zone. Now we try to have the logic of protecting the forest and not the tree”.

“Up to 50% of water is lost in networks”

Then referring to what will become of them water and electricity billsMr. Skylakakis assured that there is no horizontal increase in water tariffs even to the limit of inflation, while regarding the wholesale electricity prices he estimated that the prices will go down in the medium and long term.

However, he left open the possibility of possible point increases in water bills. As he said:

“Now all water providers will have any increase checked by the Water Regulatory Authority, which will be fully operational by the end of the month. The control is based on the European directive which tells you nothing more than that you have to have cost regulation, without profit in the water. Our problem is that nationwide up to 40-50% of the water is lost in the networks”.
