The Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, wished a good start during his visit to the Ministry of Education, on the occasion of its opening Digital Tutorial for high school students.
The official first day of the digital tutorial and the first modern (live) delivery of the free service, for the History course, was attended by the Prime Minister in the afternoon and was guided around the specially configured course transmission area.
Accompanied by Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Deputy Ministers Zetta Makri and Ioanna Lytrivi, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to learn about the new support system for the learning process and to talk with Professor Evangelia Biniori, as well as sign language interpreter Nefeli Radou, who the course is videotaped so that the new service is accessible to hearing impaired children.
In the first session, 4,000 simultaneous connections were recorded. In the first phase, remedial teaching is offered for 11 nationally examined courses, with the assistance of 79 teachers. In its complete version, modern (live) distance learning will provide support for 45 courses.
“The live, Digital Tutorial is an important innovation. We use technology so that students can have access to a quality supplementary course”, emphasized Mr. Mitsotakis.
“I am sure that this institution will take root”, he added.
The prime minister was greeted earlier at the entrance of the building by the leadership of the ministry, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, and Deputy Ministers Zetta Makri and Ioanna Lytrivi.
“It is a great pleasure that you are here today for the opening of the Digital Training Center”, said Kyriakos Pierrakakis, addressing the Prime Minister.
The minister spoke of “an important beginning” taking place today, while according to the Ministry of Education more than 4,000 students have already signed up to attend the free, live afternoon classes.
“It has many innovations, among them we will have live interpretation in sign language, then subtitling will be added. It is an important service, which we expect the students to embrace”, added Mr. Pierrakakis.
The Prime Minister and the leadership of the Ministry of Education had the opportunity to watch from the studio on the ground floor of the ministry the delivery of the History lesson, with which the Digital Education is premiering today.
More specifically, all students of the 3rd high school who wish to attend the courses of the Digital School should connect to the digitalschool.gov.gr platform with the codes of the Panhellenic School Network.
Every candidate for admission to Tertiary Education through the National Examinations has free access to the Digital Tutorial, thus having the opportunity to watch, during the evening hours, live, lectures for all the material in the courses being examined, including special courses, such as linear and architectural design , German and French.
In the first phase, as Mr. Pierrakakis mentioned, there will be deliveries in 11 nationally examined courses and then, 19 GEL courses and 26 EPAL courses will be taught.
During the course, the participants are not allowed to intervene, but they can ask questions, which will be answered in a short time.
The lessons will be delivered from the studio set up on the ground floor of the ministry.
The total of 79 teachers who will teach in the Digital Tuition Center have at their disposal digital tools to make the lesson easier to understand, while they will give notes in each lesson to the students and some tests.
