The two parliamentary forces are “skinny” with their opposition work
By Antonis Anzoletou
The government and Kyriakos Mitsotakis they have the advantage, but also the disadvantage, of starting the new political year without having the two major opposition parties “absolutely active” against them. SYRIZA is still in the midst of its major internal party problems and is heading for new elections. Yesterday’s match against him Yannis Ragousis with Theodora Tzakris they lit new “fires” that will be difficult to extinguish.
At the same time PASOK it has entered the final stretch until October 6th when the polls will be set and the tones are rising.
The two parliamentary forces are fatally involved in their opposition work. On the one hand, the result of the European elections and the low percentages have caused great disappointment within it Koumoundourou and Harilaou Trikoupiwhile at the same time the transition period they are in has disoriented all executives.
Is this good for the government? By no means. It is a fact that the majority is pressured during its term of office to take measures or make painful fiscal decisions when the political system reaches its limits and this pressure reaches society. This is the normal range. When social media and online groups of dubious origin come to replace institutions, populism flourishes. The majority always needs a counterweight and strong voices to check it based on the mandate given by the popular verdict.
The lack of a substantial opposition also increases the arrogance of the rulers, as from one point on they feel “invulnerable”. This results in government work being performed poorly and at a slower pace in several cases. This is also the great fear of Kyriakos Mitsotakis who wants to run the reforms within the next three years. As he himself mentioned at the TIF press conference, this is the “key” for its world New Republic to return and the percentage of 2027 to be able to restore self-reliance to the party.
The lack of a strong opposition in several cases inflames the “extremes”. Citizens who do not see a government solution choose to leave the political system, seeking “shelter” in forces that do not belong to the democratic arc. Executives from SYRIZA and PASOK recommend patience, but their audience does not seem to have it. The party of Nikos Androulakis seems to be restraining or even raising its forces a little, the same, but this is not the case with the official opposition either.
At Pulse poll both together with 28.5% do not reach New Democracy’s “low” numbers recorded at 30%. A clear picture of how the political situation and geography has been shaped will exist after the winter with the new leaders in SYRIZA and PASOK having given the first samples of writing.
