On his radio and to Vasilis Chiotis and Noti Papadopoulos his presidential candidate spoke at noon on Friday PASOK, Nikos Androulakisregarding all the developments surrounding the internal party elections of October 6.

Initially, Mr. Androulakis pointed out that the country needs an opposition, with PASOK distinguished by consistency, seriousness and political culture, without confrontations and toxic conflict. “From then on, all executives must be moderate, not make characterizations. It’s not just about doing well until October 14, I expect something that I didn’t hear in the debate: a public commitment from all the candidates that they will run in the first national election on our ballots.”

“We’re going to discuss the issue of postal voting – Are they talking backroom games to me?”

Regarding the conflict with Haris Doukas, he commented that “if a member of PASOK has written something offensive, bad. There must be an ethical behavior, a seriousness with dignity, but in all directions. And since I hear about character assassination, you know what I’ve heard from time to time? Do they come and talk about behind the scenes games on me, that an entire parastate was set up across the street so that I wouldn’t be elected president?”

Making his self-criticism, he answered a related question that the communication policy should have been more aggressive, since it is not possible for PASOK to be overall second in the entire region and fourth in Athens. “We need a more competitive ballot with better communication immediately. I don’t accept it being heard that we didn’t do well while all of Crete turned green. As for the postal vote, perhaps we should have handled it better. Now we will discuss it if a new bill comes for the next national elections. The point is not to change to paragraph five with amendments from the window.”

He then launched a fierce attack on the government, claiming that “if Kyriakos Mitsotakis stays like this in Maximos Palace, he will do harm to the country. What image do you send to Turkey if it is made known that you are watching the Chief of the Armed Forces himself? We are talking about champions of corruption, they are unrepentant, they have bankrupted the country since 2009, now they have wiretapping and Tempi and no one is resigning”, adding:

“I have been president for two and a half years and I ask, does PASOK in 2021 have anything to do with what it is today? A party that went to 13% and is now in second place, took two districts, the two big municipalities, settled its debts and has renewed its personnel, all these are little things?

Nikos Androulakis

“I will propose a change of choice of the Greek Justice”

Asked what he will do in the event of a change in the electoral law, Nikos Androulakis stated that he will propose a change in the selection of the Greek Judiciary.

“It is unthinkable that the government itself chooses the leadership of the judiciary. A different way of doing this will have to be found, because it is not possible for everyone to institutionalize what they put on their heads. These issues must be raised with maturity, the separation of powers is something that is constantly being degraded. Right now we have a prime minister-centric system, while for me the President of the Republic should have a stronger role.”
