“The government squandered the great opportunity of the Recovery Fund to change the production model of the country”, the PASOK announcement states
“The “12 tax breaks and 12 measures of income support” advertised by the government and included in draft budget submitted by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance for 2025 cannot embellish the unfair character of the tax policy practiced for six years,” PASOK-Movement for Change commented in a statement from the party’s Finance Department.
He also points out that the government wasted the great opportunity of the Recovery Fund to change the production model of the country.
The PASOK-KINAL argues how the persistent overruns of primary surplus targets are not due to the so-called growth “miracle” touted by government staff, but to the fiscal bleeding of the most vulnerable and the middle class. He emphasizes that “it is obvious that the government has turned inflation and excess revenues from indirect taxes into a tool for exercising its economic policy, inflating revenues and nominal figures of growth that contribute decisively to the reduction of the debt-to-GDP ratio.”
He argues that the most important impact from the practiced economic policy concerns the ongoing great redistribution of wealth that is happening in the country, at the expense of the world of work.
“The time has come for another, progressive economic policy. For PASOK, there is a radically different criterion of success in the exercise of economic policy. At the heart of our own agenda are not the profits of oligopolies, but a fair and sustainable development with increased employment through the creation of well-paid and quality jobs. Only in this way, the new generations will regain hope and perspective”, concludes PASOK in its announcement.
