Some of the Committee members went to collect their cards and were not given them – Some others claim cards have been given to non-members
Tension with the good morning prevails in the Central Committee of SYRIZA even before the meeting begins, which is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Some of the Committee members went to get their cards and were not given them. Some others – on the part of Kasselakis – claim that cards have been given to non-members.
The climate is particularly “heavy” after yesterday’s meeting of the Political Secretariat where Stefanos Kasselakis received a barrage of fire.
Shortly before the meeting began, Pavlos Polakis made a post in which he states that he will be absent.
“The winner of the elections will emerge in the light, with an honest confrontation and with everyone present”, writes the candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA – PS Pavlos Polakis,
“My insistence that we march in an orderly manner and without “appearances” and exclusions in the elections, stems from my belief that battles are fought on political terms in society”, emphasizes Pavlos Polakis, expressing his opposition to the exclusion of Stefanos Kasselakis from the election process for the president of SYRIZA.
“”Trials” and fantasies of grandeur have been withdrawn, tactics to block candidates are thwarted”, noted Mr. Polakis and addressed a call to “democratic citizens for a new decade-long social contract”. “Miracles, miracle workers and political “messiahs” and intermediaries, did not exist and will not exist. What is needed are popular forces in motion and leadership that responds to social needs and rights,” he said.
The executives of “87” decided to hold the Central Committee as normal and from their speeches yesterday it became clear that they are preparing a vote to exclude the candidacy of Kasselakis for the leadership of the party. However, he declared that he remains president and in a last ditch effort to reverse the negative climate for him, he announced, through his post, that he is withdrawing the extra-judicial action against the party’s organs for publicizing his whereabouts in order, as he says, “to have no alibi’, addressing those he believes are attempting to exclude him from the party’s internal elections.
Specifically, the former president explained that the publication of the whereabouts of the other candidates, as well as the condemnation of the leak by the Political Secretariat on October 8, justified his positions. Therefore, he stated that he will not pursue further legal actions.
However, this move by Stefanos Kasselakis does not seem to have worked as executives who are asking for the exclusion are wondering if by withdrawing the extra-judicial he also withdraws his signature on it as President of SYRIZA.
