The party after yesterday’s Central Committee meeting is marching full speed split towards the congress, if things go smoothly

The big conflict in SYRIZA starts today. Theodora Tzakri with her speech, she “cost” everyone towards Stefanos Kasselakis, since apart from “87”, brought against Pavlos Polakisbut also executives who had been by his side in the past. After yesterday’s Central Committee meeting, the party is marching at full speed divided towards the conference, if things go smoothly.
For the new majority, the candidacy of Stefanos Kasselakis is now off the table Koumoundourou basically puts him out of the fight. As they state, the conference cannot cancel the decision because the deadline for announcing the nominations is October 24 and after the decision taken yesterday cannot be a candidate. For the former president of SYRIZA, this is not the case and was confirmed by his post last night stating “I am here”. He talks about “our SYRIZA” and makes it clear that “our voice is the conference”. Unexpectedly, as today he will have the first meeting with his partners, Stefanos Kasselakis will normally start his tour throughout Greece. In the following days and November 8-10 he will attempt to first overturn the decision of the Central Committee of September 8 that removed him as president, and then to have the highest governing body approve his candidacy.
Yesterday’s meeting of the Central Committee looked more like a demonstration than a convocation of an organ. Members who were in the central hotel of Athens and did not take their cards so as not to be counted was something unprecedented. As are the shouts, the insults, the quarrels and the teasing. An unprecedented “civil war” has broken out on social media with very heavy expressions. There was no qualm from the “87” not to proceed with the exclusion of Stefanos Kasselakis from the electoral process, just as the other side was determined to show that despite the withdrawal of the extrajudicial, there is an empathy against the former president.
From now on, the opposing camps are expected to clash to the bitter end as the party’s poll numbers plummet. The conference scheduled to take place in about a month seems a long way off as surprises and surprises from all camps will continue. Actually everything is up in the air from here on out. Pavlos Polakis tried to separate his position with all the chaos that was caused yesterday with his close associate and member of the KE, Markos Hatzisavva, stating that he and five executives who were present at the meeting “we do not legitimize with the our participation and we abstain from the votes regarding the amendments that we consider extreme”. The absence, however, of the MP from Chania was commented negatively by many members, as it was estimated that he refused to take a position, continuing a balanced attitude. The proposal of Thymios Georgopoulos for the removal of Stefanos Kasselakis did not proceed and was not finally put to a vote.
