“I would prefer the political discussion not to be overshadowed by issues that have become serial”, emphasized the party’s presidential candidate
The images are not pleasant, the atmosphere is unpleasant and any attempt to idealize it is unfair. It does injustice to the history of the left, a party of contribution and sacrifice over time in the country. Many of the images we see that sadden us, some of us had warned that they could have been avoided,” he said and on the show “Morning” with Fai Mavragani, on the occasion of what took place at yesterday’s extraordinary meeting of the SYRIZA Executive Committee, the candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA Nikolaos Farandouris.
“What is urgent is for the situation to return to normalcy. The motion of censure and many things could have been avoided with political acumen and initiatives to exit the crisis,” he added.
As Mr. Farandouris said, “the EC’s decision provides the framework for the nominations until the congress and the elections. From then on, the congress is the highest body of the party and anyone can propose anything. However, the framework in which we will proceed from here on, are the decisions of yesterday’s Central Committee”, stressing that “my opponent is not my partner in the party. What our space needs is seriousness and extroversion. What our space needs is restraint in our manner and speech.”
Also, the candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA argued that “I would prefer Mr. Kasselakis and anyone who considers that he meets the specifications to lead a modern left-wing party with the history and the weight of historical responsibility at this time of the official opposition, to put running for president. I would prefer the political discussion to dominate and not be overshadowed by the issues that have become serial for a year.”
“It is imperative that SYRIZA come out of its shell and lead the programmatic dialogue and the convergence of progressive forces,” he noted.
“If SYRIZA cannot emancipate itself from its father, its historical leader, then things are very difficult for SYRIZA. I believe that Alexis Tsipras would also like to see his spiritual child be emancipated and not need paternal affection”, Mr. Farandouris concluded.
