To intensify the pressure so that the southerner does not convert Lebanon in a new Gaza, within his legal right Israel to defend against his attacks Iranthe prime minister called Kyriakos Mitsotakis coming to EU-Gulf summit in Brussels.

Mr. Mitsotakis called for restraint, so as to give time for the only political solution to come to the table, that is, the creation of two states that can coexist in peace, the only solution that could deal with the structural problem of Middle East region.

The prime minister emphasized that the first high-level meeting between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council is being held at an extremely critical juncture, noting that “Greece is located at the south-eastern tip of Europe and obviously has every desire to further deepen the relations of the European Union and the Gulf countries”.

He added that on a bilateral level he maintains excellent relations with all six states that make up the Cooperation Council.

In detail about the situation in the Middle East, Mr. Mitsotakis said that it is very important to further deepen relations at the EU level, especially at a time when our cooperation is increasingly necessary, as the wider Middle East is at risk of a military flare-up .

“It is extremely important at this time to reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza so that this unimaginable humanitarian catastrophe does not continue. And to intensify our pressure so that southern Lebanon does not turn into a Gaza, within the framework of Israel’s legal right to be able to defend itself against Iranian attacks.

But at this moment what is imposed first and above all is the restraintso that we can give time to put back on the table the only political solution that can deal with the structural problem of the Middle East, which is none other than the creation of two states that can coexist in peace, so that we will be able to deal with the structural problem which is leading this region to a regime of certain ignition”.

According to Reuters, the Brussels summit is expected to last just a few hours and includes a wide-ranging agenda, from visas and trade to the situation in the Middle East.

The agency believes it is unlikely to yield anything more substantial than general commitments to improve cooperation.
