Controversy surrounding his actions Stefanou Kasselakis and the way of SYRIZA’s reaction emerged in the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA.

Theodora Tzakri, from the side of Stefanos Kasselakis, turned against the majority saying: “It is unacceptable that the PG meets every week to denounce Stefanos Kasselakis while we are in the middle of the pre-congress dialogue with all the issues open”.

He then asked: “Is there a space lease for the conference? If so, give it to us. Which company has undertaken the election process? Why hasn’t the campaign for the conference been opened to syriza yet?’

Olga Gerovasili said in her deposition: “Kasselakis has a plan that unfolds from the European elections and continues. Or to keep a section of the members and the SYRIZA party, essentially dissolving what we know to date both politically and organizationally with a right-wing turn. Or plan b, which is testing it through the platform, is for its own party. THE SYRIZA – PS must defend in the attack”.

Thanasis Theocharopoulos noted: “The pedantry of Kasselakis’ supporters in the KE, in the organizations in the pre-conference dialogue and everywhere is unacceptable. Those of you who tried to artificially achieve a quorum and failed, tried to undermine the democratic functioning of the main opposition party.

Stefanos Kasselakis insists on saying that he is the president despite the decisions of the collective bodies. And about the extrajudicial, he says that he did it well. And insults K.E. daily. The same K.E. which supported him until September and was good then. Then it was decriminalized. He cannot accept the rules of the Republic. The creation of an online platform is another unprecedented event, a choice to break with Stefanos Kasselakis and his SYRIZA party. He confirms every day with what he does and says that the vote of confidence was right and his candidacy is not approved.”

Panos Rigas, for his part, said: “Anyone who wants to can submit a candidacy to the conference without even having submitted 30 signatures and where they belong according to article 16 of the Statute. The conference can decide on everything. The conference can do anything. Whatever he wants. He has absolute sovereignty.”

Yannis Ragousis said: “Kasselakis is absolutely clear. It is clear what he is after. He seeks to discredit SYRIZA so that he can then proceed to create his own party that will not have SYRIZA-PS as a strong competitor. A common strategy in business for decades. In this sense, what is the major question and dilemma that arises, for every member for every friend of SYRIZA-PS? It is not what the conference’s mandate is. Not even if the decision to reject Kasselakis’ candidacy is irreversible. Not even if extrajudicial and the criminalization of party life are absolutely reprehensible. Not even if the official and declared sabotage and boycott of democratically elected bodies, through the artificial prevention of quorum, is unprecedented and absolutely unacceptable. All of the above are serious questions. However, the greatest question or dilemma that is posed to every friend and member of the party is “or SYRIZA or Kasselakis”.

Finally, the candidate for the presidency, Pavlos Polakis, distanced himself from both sides. He criticized the majority for the way they handle the issue of Stefanos Kasselakis but also attacked the former president of SYRIZA, calling him a “narcissist”. Addressing the officers of the majority he said: “You have done your stupidity and made him a wounded prince, you 87, the 100.” Continuing, he argued “but if normal people come to vote, “this thing” president does not come out”.

The announcement of the Political Secretariat

The Political Secretariat of SYRIZA-PS met today and reached the following decision:

Regarding the attitude of the government, which continues to have negative effects both on the international position of our country and on the daily life of the citizens, the Political Secretariat emphasizes that SYRIZA-PS remains an advocate of the continuation of the dialogue with the red lines clearly drawn at the base of international law. Only in this way can the interests of our country and peace in the region be served.

The submissive policies of the government in foreign policy lead on the one hand to the tacit acceptance of the development of risks and on the other hand to the possibility of tug-of-war positions within the co-republic that cannot produce equal political results, but only cracks in the fixed positions of our country in Greek-Turkish relations.

At the same time, today revealed once again the real policy of the ND government in the area of ​​the National Health Service and the health professions. That of exchanging the universal right of citizens’ access to public Health with a few thousand free interventions, financed by the Recovery Fund. What is really needed, however, is the strengthening of the NSS structures, the appropriate equipment and of course the necessary staff with the necessary fees and rights. What the nationwide health mobilization today, October 18, is demanding against a government that is indifferent.

Regarding the issues related to the party’s path to the Congress:

SYRIZA-PS will proceed in an orderly manner, with collectiveness, faithful observance of the Statute and the decisions of its competent bodies towards the election of a president.

No one and no one can hinder the institutional collective functioning of SYRIZA-PS, stop its necessary reconstruction, and deprive it of the duty and the mandate for official opposition, given to it by the Greek people in the elections.

The intra-party dialogue, from the pre-congress procedures to the presidential elections, must be based on the political debate, the submission of political plans for the present and the future of SYRIZA-PS and Greek society.

This is a basic obligation towards the left-wing, progressive citizens, and towards society as a whole, which is looking for progressive answers and a way out of the increasingly difficult everyday life created by the policies of the Mitsotakis government.

Despite the anti-party and vicarious pursuit for non-quorum at the meeting, K.E. of SYRIZA-PS met on October 12 with a quorum and its absolutely constitutional and democratic decision was taken with a large majority.

We unequivocally condemn the unprecedented for our region deviance that took place outside the venue of the body’s meeting, any verbal or other attack against party officials, and media workers who covered the work of the Central Committee, as well as similar unacceptable behaviors in organizations and party processes.

Such phenomena are a blow to our party, they objectively serve plans to de-massize the political processes and discredit SYRIZA-PS in the eyes of society, and we will not allow them to continue.

The creation of an online platform is another unprecedented and unheard of event, after the extrajudicial mission to the party’s Central Committee and Central Committee. It is a consciously misleading choice, since it uses the name of SYRIZA-PS in its domain name and internally, but also competitive with our party.

Finally, the offensive reports regarding the alleged 50 working members of the KE, apart from having nothing to do with reality, insult SYRIZA-PS as a whole and lend themselves to perceptions and attacks from other political areas. The members of the party and its bodies, the executives and the deputies of the party, are neither employees nor subordinates of anyone.

The systematic attempt to spread a climate of disappointment and resignation among the left-wing, progressive citizens will fall on deaf ears, it will not stop the massive and active participation of the members and friends of SYRIZA-PS in all internal party processes, for which we will fight and we will institutionally guarantee with all our powers.
