Fofi Gennimata breathed her last at noon on Monday, October 25, 2021 – She was buried in the tomb of the Gennimata family
The memorial for the three years since the death of the deceased Fofis Gennimata was held on Sunday morning at the First Cemetery of Athens, in the presence of relatives, friends and executives of PASOK – KINAL.
In particular, in addition to her family, the President of PASOK-KINAL attended the memorial service, Nikos Androulakisthe former president of the party George Papandreoumembers of parliament but also her longtime collaborators. Also present were party secretary Andreas Spyropoulos, Haris Doukas, Anna Diamantopoulou, Pavlos Geroulanos, Thanasis Glavinas, Panagiotis Doudonis, Dimitris Manzos, Pavlos Christidis, Manolis Christodoulakis, Christos Protopappas, Kostas Geitonas , Dimitris Reppas and Sokratis Famellos from SYRIZA.
“Three years have passed, but the inexhaustible strength and optimism of Fofi Gennimata are deeply etched in our memory. I believe that our efforts will also justify her own great struggle, in the most critical years for the political survival of our faction”, said Nikos Androulakis immediately after the memorial service.
Fofi Gennimata breathed her last at noon on Monday, October 25, 2021 after the great deterioration of her health.
The late president of PASOK – KINAL, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. On October 12, 2021, she was admitted to Evangelismos hospital as her underlying disease relapsed. Because of this, he withdrew from the leadership race. His health condition worsened day by day, resulting in him falling into a hepatic coma on October 24 and finally ending at 12:04 pm the next day. The news of her death was commented on by politicians of all parties, while the Parliament suspended for a week, as a sign of mourning, its work.
Her funeral was held at a public expense with acting ministerial honors on Wednesday, October 27, after the short public pilgrimage that preceded it. He was buried in the First Cemetery of Athens, in the tomb of the Gennimata family.
