“The removal of the protection of the two protected witnesses in the case of the Novartis scandal is yet another act of cover-up,” the New Left emphasizes in a statement.

As it states, “the amendment to Article 218 of the Code of Civil Procedure that the government made a few months ago paved the way for the cover-up and punishment of those who contributed to the revelation of an international scandal like that of Novartis.”

“A scandal, for which the American State paid 345 million dollars out of court, of which 310 million related to the practices of Novartis in Greece. But for the government of Mr. Mitsotakis, there is nothing to blame, there is only “scum”” emphasizes the New Left and concludes:

“This development is a deep wound for the rule of law in our country as it essentially abolishes the crucial institution of witness protection. The government of Mr. Mitsotakis is sending a clear message regarding cases of public interest. A message of impunity and protection to the perpetrators, a message of deterrence and terror to those who will think of denouncing or contributing to the investigation of a scandal.”
