“At the moment there is no other solution than the permanence of all seasonal firefighters. Permanentization is now the solution, because they cover fixed and lasting needs 365 days a year, not just for the fire season, from April to October. They cover the needs of flood protection, earthquake protection, fires that occur and break out and other natural disasters throughout the year, and the shortages in the fire department are huge.” This was stated by the head of the KE of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubasat the gathering of the Panhellenic Association of Contract Firefighters, today at the Syntagma.

“Yesterday the permanence and recruitment of at least 4,000 firefighters had to be done. Here too we have 2,500 seasonal firefighters and the government does not make them permanent. It is unacceptable! She will find us in front of her, we will be in the streets of the struggle. We will not leave them in the lurch, both inside the Parliament and outside it,” he emphasized, concluding his statement.

To a journalist’s question about yesterday’s images of government repression, D. Koutsoubas replied:

“It is unacceptable. People who are right on their side, who are fighting to have a daily wage, to have bread for themselves and their family, to accept tons of chemicals, even inside the ministry, in closed spaces at risk even to their lives and to they are being severely beaten, along with them and your fellow journalists from what we have heard.

These are unacceptable phenomena! The government has to solve the problem and stop hitting, beating, bullying people, our fellow human beings, who are completely right on their side.”
