“We have a road map to reach 950 euros minimum wage by 2027. It is an increase of 46% since the ND took over the government of the country”, the Minister of Labor and Social Security said to SKAI and on the show “Kalimera” with Fai Mavragani Niki Kerameos.

“A bill incorporating a European directive is already under consultation. With the bill that is under consultation, we predict how much the minimum wage will increase after 2027”, added Ms. Kerameos and pointed out that “with this system, the protection shield, the threshold, is changed. What is that minimum wage below which no one can go.”

Also, the Minister of Labor spoke of “4 innovations. From 2027 it is expressly provided in law that the minimum wage cannot be reduced. The wage is currently locked at 830 and will be locked at 950 euros”

Asked about how the minimum wage will increase, Ms. Kerameos clarified that “There will be a mechanism for an increase. It will be linked to the economy, to market prices. As prices rise, as accuracy increases, so will the minimum wage. Accuracy is a major issue. The government is taking multiple actions in order to alleviate this phenomenon as much as possible. We consider very important to tie the salary to the real economy. An important innovation of the new system, there will be no reduction”.

“A third important innovation of the bill concerns for the first time also public servants. We extend the protection shield. As of 2025, public education salaries are also rising. It predicts that no one in our country will be able to have a salary below 830 euros”, added Ms. Kerameos, stressing that “it is important to regulate it by law in order to have predictability”.

For the regulation regarding the special solidarity levy:

“The regulation is already in public consultation. We bring a provision that will have been corrected with the January pensions. The first ensures that no one will have a reduction and the second that all pensioners will receive the full pension increase”.

Also, the Minister of Labor and Social Security argued that “there is no discussion about changing the limit on widow’s pensions”.

For KEPAs

Referring to the changes in KEPA, Ms. Kerameos underlined that “out of 514 doctors in KEPA. Today we have 1254. This means better service to the citizen, faster service”, while he emphasized that the list of diseases considered irreversible has been expanded. “Why should the citizen go to KEPA every now and then to get a certificate? We have expanded this list and those suffering from irreversible diseases will not have to go to KEPA again and will receive the benefit for life”, he said.

At the same time, Ms. Kerameos said that on Tuesday “a big change concerning disability pensions” is discussed in the Parliament. On Tuesday, the Plenary will vote on the provision that we have proposed so that it is no longer a condition for you to receive the disability pension to stop your work”.

When asked about whether the civil servants will receive a 13th and 14th salary, Ms. Kerameos replied “where we can and we have fiscal margin, we give support. All this is a function of the fiscal margins that the country has.”

Finally, the Minister of Labor referred to the actions of the Ministry of Labor in order to return the young people who are abroad.

“We lost many children during the difficult years of the crisis, in search of a better professional opportunity. About 350,000 have returned, but there is considerable room to bring our children back,” said Ms. Kerameos, pointing out that Career Days will be held in the Netherlands, Germany and England in the near future.
