The developments in SYRIZA are taking the form of an avalanche after yesterday’s episodic conference which led to the third split of SYRIZA within a year and a little while before the start of work today.

Its independence from SYRIZA was also announced by Member of Parliament of Halkidiki Kyriaki Malamawith the party now represented in Parliament by 31 MPs.

It is noted that after the independences of Petros Pappas, Alexandros Avlonitis, Ralias Christidous and Kyriakis Malamas, SYRIZA is among the 31 MPs together with PASOK and remains the official opposition because its percentage in the national elections was higher. However, if SYRIZA subsequently “loses” even one more MP, it loses the position of official opposition, which PASOK takes.

In her statement, Malama says:

“SYRIZA decided to lock its soul out”

In these days, the last act of the anti-democratic frenzy of the so-called top executives against the base of SYRIZA unfolded. The self-proclaimed top officials sneaked through the back door of the bouzouki for their pseudo-conference and left thousands of elected delegates out in the cold for five hours. This act was the tip of an iceberg that has been developing for months, with the aim of the anti-democratic diversion of the party and its surrender to alien, unknown interests. Their hatred of the world for the base of SYRIZA is such that they did not hesitate to call historical figures, people with struggles for democracy as thugs.

If it still makes sense to some, I am complaining that as a member of parliament I received an email early in the afternoon, where I was informed about the possibility of entering “through the back door”. They were ignored and I stayed with the 34 delegates from Halkidiki outside the door of the Bouzouksidikos for five hours. Only one of the 34 delegates from Halkidiki managed to enter the Bouzouksidikos. These delegates represented the vast majority of party members in the prefecture.

The delegates who were not “theirs” were put in a degraded separate room, while for the “top executives” they had a “private room”. The same people have been acting as conspirators for two months, while for the entire previous year they have been scheming, involved in successive intrigues and trying by all means to silence democracy in the party. At a time when they know that the vast majority of the party’s base, as it proved in these internal party elections, is against them.

As far as I am personally concerned, I no longer have any place in this party, I do not recognize it and I will not serve the plans of all those who disgrace the history of the Left and the dignity of the people at the grassroots, the ordinary members of the party. They drive us out of the party, they force us out with their actions.

I am independent from SYRIZA, I continue my parliamentary work unceasingly for Halkidiki and for the society as a whole and I warn their armies and their trolls that they do not touch me and nothing can bend me. We owe it to the Left, to the history of our families, to the social movements that we served to leave behind what today some have called SYRIZA.
