The stakes of the new dipole are clear and mapped: the political center – The parliamentary map is changing
By Penelope Galliou
Counting down to Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ much-discussed four-four – Nikos Androulakis somewhere towards the end of November, the two political leaders reposition their pawns on the political and parliamentary chessboard. The rearrangement caused by the new split of SYRIZA and the dissociative tendencies recorded in Koumoundourou in the seats of the Parliament, accelerate the developments in the political and parliamentary map, which begins and reminds of long ago times, when the dominant political dipole of the country, listened to name ND- PASOK.
The message of this change was broadcast, apart from the closed meetings of Maximos and from the floor of the Parliament, by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who for the second time, clearly “targeted” PASOK and its leader for the political design that Harilaou seems to be launching Trikoupis, after the re-election of Androulakis to the party, and diagnosing a more dynamic come back than what PASOK had been used to before.
The stake of the new dipole is clear and mapped: the political center. Putting this at the center of the confrontation, his goal Kyriakou Mitsotakis is to politically expose Nikos Androulakis and bring back – if possible – to the minds of his listeners, the past of a PASOK, which during the ND led the country, with its policies, to the economic crisis and the instability it experienced in the previous years.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ sharp criticism of PASOK from the floor of Parliament had this clear aim, on the occasion of the amendment for the heavy and unhealthy health care workers, stressing that it is diverted fiscally with the costless proposals. In this context, it is also clear that the government is trying to identify the stance and opposition of Harilaou Trikoupi with that of SYRIZA, classifying both parties as populist parties. After all, the designation “green SYRIZA” that was already given to PASOK reflects this trend and by highlighting common points of the opposition action of the two parties, Megaro Maximos and Piraeus are expected to move in this direction in the coming period.
At the given moment, and anticipating the change in correlations, initially in the Parliament but also subsequently in the measurements recorded, the government’s goal is to stop any “chance” for PASOK to gain even more ground, both from its left and from any disgruntled voters to the right of it. In other words, not to find vital space, and especially in the center, which is a reservoir in which the ND is still actively “betting”.
Reinforcement, of the “opposition to the opposition” that will unfold in the next period from the government seats, will be on the agenda. Against “no to everything” and “inexpensive concessions”, as government officials emphasize, the government will oppose its policies. Her commitments that became projects and actions and she will invite the citizens to evaluate them at the end of the four-year period, when the entire government’s four-year program will have unfolded, which has an implementation horizon of 2027.
Determining the strategy and the further aggravation or not of the climate of confrontation, will be the upcoming appointment of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with Nikos Androulakis, which has been pending for the last three years, but this time there is a common intention for its realization. The information converges that the private meeting is expected before the end of November, and after the agreements between the two staffs have been finalized. In any case, the image of the quartet of the two political leaders, whenever this happens, will also mean a new page change in the domestic political scene with strong symbolism.
The dangers hidden by the amendment that lit the “fuse” of the confrontation
The government’s rejection of PASOK’s amendment on the heavy and unhealthy in the public health sector, is based on specific data and is deterrent for specific reasons and the impact it will have on the public health system. According to competent social security officials, it would lead to the immediate exit of 7,700 health workers from the system, which would have serious consequences for the operation of NHS units throughout the country, would deprive people from public hospitals and other NHS units and would move them into the free market, as health workers rarely choose to retire so early.
The same sources state that the subordination of entire scientific fields to the heavy and unhealthy, and especially of doctors who usually and traditionally remain in the labor market for a long time, even after their retirement, is in direct contradiction to the philosophy of the existence of early retirement provisions. retirement. In recognition of the special importance of the medical profession for the public health system, doctors have a special salary regime, while in recognition of the special working conditions in public hospitals they receive corresponding allowances.
The government emphasizes that in the last 5 years regular expenditure for the National Social Security has increased by more than 50% and funds of 1.8 billion are available through the Recovery Fund and other sources to implement the largest building renovation investment program recommended by the National Social Security, while basic priority is to increase the salaries of health workers.
The number of permanent and temporary NHS staff has increased by 10% since 2019 while increases in regular pay and a range of allowances have been granted.
The salaries of health workers increased last year by 10%, together with the special supports related to hospital employment and positions of responsibility. In January there will be the annual increase in the basic salary and the increased by 20% compensation for on-call, which will be taxed independently at 22%, with a net benefit of up to 200 euros per month.
