Government sources, commenting on the statement of Antonis Samaras after his removal from New Democracy, state that the messages we received from all ND officials were “don’t tolerate him anymore”.

Earlier, Mr. Samaras, in his first statement after his removal, accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of arrogance and lack of composure, at the same time stating that he is “cut off from the base” and that he “leads a party that looks a bit like New Democracy”.

Antonis Samaras was kicked out of New Democracy today after his interview with “Vima tis Kyriaki” in which he severely criticized the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis, even calling for his resignation.

The removal of Mr. Samaras was announced by the government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, stating that “Mr. Samaras, with his interview today, places himself, for the second time after 1993, outside the New Democracy. After all, that’s what he was after. This time, however, history will not repeat itself. The Government majority continues steadily on its course, without Mr. Samaras. No one has the right to play with the stability of the country in these troubled times.”

In the announcement, the government representative speaks of Mr. Samaras’ insensitivity and provocative attack against the Prime Minister and Mr. Gerapetritis, stressing that the former Prime Minister, apart from the disagreement he expressed on the entire government policy, also distorted statements.

The process of deleting Mr. Samaras has already started based on what is provided by the statute. Kyriakos Mitsotakis refers him in a letter to the President of the ND Ethics Committee, Mr. Tragakis, with the question of his deletion.

The Committee will then meet, decide and the minutes will be sent to the President of the KO, who then, based on the minutes and the decision of the ND Ethics Committee, sends a letter to the President of the Parliament.
