Nikos Tsioutsias, director of the former prime minister’s press office, did not rule out the possibility of a new party being created by Antonis Samaras, while attributing his deletion to the proposal to make Costas Karamanlis the President of the Republic.

In particular, in an interview with MEGA, Mr. Tsioutsias, referring to the reasons for the deletion of Mr. Samara from the New Democracy said that “the formulations of Samara’s positions regarding the Greek-Turkish dialogue are known because they were once again brought up in public debate. And one can even say that Mr. Samaras has been vindicated for all his interventions. In fact, these positions known to the prime minister also had not led to his removal until now. On the contrary, what caused it was the proposal that Costas Karamanlis be the next President of the Republic”.

At the same time, when asked about the plans of the former prime minister, he did not rule out the possibility of proceeding with the creation of a new party, stating “I am not ruling out anything at the moment we are talking. All I know is that the next few days will find him in the US.”

Next, to the question whether Mr. Samaras threatens government cohesion, Mr. Tsioutsias stated that “as of yesterday, Antonis Samaras, with a historic decision in which he assumes the historical and political responsibility of the Prime Minister, does not participate in the government. He does not participate in KO. Therefore, he is not superhuman, since he does not participate anywhere anymore, to bring down the government.”

Regarding the decision of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to delete Mr. Mr. Samara Tsioutsias described it as historical as he pointed out that “not even Costas Karamanlis had deleted the late one in 1998, I mean Konstantinos Mitsotakis. Not even Antonis Samaras deleted the honorific in 2010 when he stood by the party founded by Mrs. Bakoyannis.”
