On Tuesday at 18:00, the Ethics Committee of the ND is expected to meet on the issue of the removal of former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras from the Parliamentary Group of the ND.

Already, since Saturday when the ex-prime minister’s removal was announced, it had become known that the sealing procedure had been initiated based on the provisions, with the prime minister sending the request to the party’s Ethics Committee.

In fact, in the context of the developments, ND MP and member of the party’s Ethics Committee, Theodoros Karaoglou, was notified to hasten his return from Argentina, where he is on a parliamentary mission for the 2nd Clerical Assembly of Greek Organizations of South America.

Mr. Karaoglou’s return to Thessaloniki, from Buenos Aires, was scheduled for Wednesday, November 20.

Government sources said that the deletion of Mr. Samaras was now the only way forward after his latest intervention in which he targeted the entire government policy.

Earlier, on Sunday, the director of the former prime minister’s press office, Nikos Tsioutsias, did not rule out the possibility of Antonis Samaras creating a new party, while he attributed his deletion to the proposal for Kostas Karamanlis to become President of the Republic.

In particular, in an interview with MEGA, Mr. Tsioutsias, referring to the reasons for deleting Mr. Samara from New Democracy, said that “the wording of Samara’s positions regarding the Greek-Turkish dialogue are known because they were brought up again in public debate. And one can even say that Mr. Samaras has been vindicated for all these interventions. In fact, these positions known to the prime minister also had not led to his removal until now. On the contrary, what caused it was the proposal that Costas Karamanlis be the next President of the Republic”.
