Pavlos Polakis, Member of Parliament and candidate for the presidency of SYRIZA-PS, made an invitation for democratic participation, in his speech in Thessaloniki
In his speech at a pre-election event in Thessaloniki, the MP and presidential candidate of SYRIZA-PS, Pavlos Polakis, addressed a large pan-democratic invitation. He accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of “robbing 18 billion euros from our pockets every year” and expressed the belief that after the internal party elections, SYRIZA-PS will recover as an official opposition with a governmental perspective.
“The opinion polls at the moment show a bad picture of the moment for SYRIZA-PS, which will change,” said Mr. Polakis and continued: “It will change a lot after the result of the internal party elections and especially if the people we are waiting for come to come to vote – and this bet is open – and, of course, it also depends on who will be president. It will change because we will be broadcasting a different message than what we are broadcasting now. Now we broadcast a fight, tomorrow we will broadcast a specific proposal to become a government again. That’s why it will change, because the world can no longer be satisfied by Mr. Mitsotakis.
Mr. Mitsotakis robs 18 billion a year from our pockets. That is why he lost 1,200,000 votes in the European elections. That’s why he lost it, he didn’t lose it because he was ugly, because he robs us of 18 billion euros a year from our pockets. And we didn’t collect money in the European elections, that’s why we’re changing leadership to be able to better organize the counterattack. No one else either wants or can express the interests of the social majority with a structured programmatic speech and proposal».
Regarding his own candidacy, Mr. Polakis emphasized that he has presented a program with 6 pillars, which has three central ideas, which are as follows:A massive redistribution of wealth in favor of wage labor to reach pre-2010 wage levels, which the memoranda have crippled. The reacquisition of public goods and strategic enterprises under the control of the state, because otherwise no real development can be produced, as far as the majority of citizens are concerned, nor can the accuracy be controlled, or the robbery done in our pockets. A huge reform in the state and justice».
