“Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, Soldiers, Sailors, Crewmen, National Guardsmen, Reservists and Civilian Personnel of the Armed Forces. On November 21 we honor the Armed Forces of our country. The constitutional guardian of our national security and independence. We honor those who served and those who laid down their most valuable asset, their lives, in the line of duty. We honor you,” he emphasized.

“We are also celebrating the Entry of the Virgin, Heroic General of the Greek Armed Forces. The Virgin Mary, as the eternal mother figure of the incarnated good, eternally thinks of the Armed Forces and through them our Motherland. It is the peaceful maternal role model, the ultimate and obvious symbolism, regarding the role of the Armed Forces throughout our history,” he added.

“Women and men of the Armed Forces. Your role goes beyond the traditional boundary of National Defence. It extends to the obligation to offer to society at its time of need. I thank you for your services to the country and society and I feel, like every Greek, pride”, said Mr. Dendias.

“The Greek people recognize the role of the Armed Forces and look forward to them. He knows that you are the guards of every part of the Greek territory and at the same time the supporters of society in every difficulty. I invite you and urge you to continue diligently to carry out your constitutional duties, based on the ideals and values ​​of the Nation”, he pointed out.

The events in the framework of the Armed Forces Day celebration in Athens on Thursday, November 21

Specifically, as announced by GEETHA, the following events will be held:

● At 08:00 official raising of the Greek flag, on the Holy Rock of the Acropolis.

● At 11:00 an official doxology at the Cathedral of Athens, presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos II, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

● At 11:55 wreath-laying by the President of the Hellenic Republic, at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier.
