The unprecedented degradation of SYRIZA from the position of official opposition without holding national elections, after the independence of two more of its MPs, monopolizes for the second day in a row the debates inside and outside the Parliament. Indicative of the political paradox is the fact that SYRIZA’s current question about the National Social Security System – which is being discussed in the Plenary Chamber – is signed by a total of 34 MPs, some of whom are now outside the parliamentary group.

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, commented decisively on the presence in the Plenary Hall during the debate of approximately 10 SYRIZA MPs: “You got a little diluted there in SYRIZA from the filing of the inquiry”. This report caused tension in the seats of SYRIZA, with the MPs of Koumoundourou asking him if he is saddened by these developments: “I am not saddened…I will struggle to hold back my tears”.

Responding, the parliamentary representative of SYRIZA Christos Giannouliswho succeeded him on the podium, reciprocated the comment, saying characteristically: “you have become very thin in the mountains of New Democracy, is there a former prime minister missing who accuses you of a series of national issues?”.

However, the rearrangements in the anthropo-geography of the Parliament were not left unoccupied by PASOK either. It was indicative the dialogue between Odysseus Konstantinopoulos and Christos Giannoulis:

ODYSSEAS KONSTANTINOPOULOSdeputy speaker of the Parliament: Did you get your second opinion?

CHRISTOS GIANNOULIS: You are an official opposition. If you say so I will do it.

ODYSSEAS KONSTANTINOPOULOSdeputy speaker of the Parliament: My party has no responsibility for what has happened in your party and no former leader from my party has ever said go and drop them. PASOK has behaved all this time in a completely honest way during this time.
