MP Fthiotidas announced his independence from the SYRIZA parliamentary group a while ago Yannis Sarakiotiswith a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament, Costas Tassoulas.

“What happened in the previous period is known to everyone, but it does not honor anyone. I did not agree to all this, I did not keep silent, I sounded the alarm, but I was not listened to. I can’t pretend that we are continuing as we are, nothing happened and we are moving on. Not everything can be forgotten. The trauma at the moment is both fresh and deep,” he declared at the press conference, underlining that he will remain, for the time being, on the bench of the independents.

“As far as I am concerned, from the position of the independent MP of Fthiotida, I will continue to honor the trust of my fellow citizens by highlighting their problems and anxieties every day,” he said, avoiding to answer whether he will join the party of Stefanos Kasselakis.

However, the MP of Fthiotidas, talking to parliamentary editors, said he was “relieved” after his independence.

It is noted that SYRIZA now has 28 MPs, compared to PASOK’s 31, while the number of independents has jumped to 22.

The departures of Theodora Tzakris, Iotas Poulos, Alexandros Avlonitis, Kyriakis Malamas, Ralias Christidous, and Petros Pappas from the SYRIZA KO were preceded.
