He submitted his resignation from the post of Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, in order to take up the post of Commissioner of the European Union
Apostolos Tzitzikostas has resigned from the position of the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, who takes over the duties of the European Union Commissioner for sustainable transport and tourism.
As the President of the Regional Council, Theodoros Mitrakas, reported to APE-MPE, the relevant act was completed by the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia Thrace and Mrs. Voula Patoulidou, who in the last self-governing elections collected the most votes in the largest regional unit, that of Thessaloniki, was notified, so that to initiate the process of electing a new Regional Governor.
From today and within 15 days Ms. Patoulidou will have to convene the 40 regional councilors of the majority faction in the Region in order for the nominations to be submitted and the vote to take place.
In the event that a candidate receives 21 votes in the first ballot, a Regional Governor is elected. If this does not happen, a second vote will be held in which 21 votes are required for the election. If again a candidate does not collect the required votes, a third vote will be held in which the candidate with the first number of votes is now elected.
