“Today’s World Day gives us the opportunity to once again recognize the strength of our fellow citizens with disabilities. And with it, the effort of their families, but also of the State”, says Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his post on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

“Because the fight for accessibility and equal rights has been and remains constant. With the policies of the National Strategy towards 2030 as a compass. And the steps of solidarity that, gradually, our society is making”, the Prime Minister emphasizes.

And he adds: “Already, more than 1,500 jobs in the State are reserved for unemployed people with disabilities. And as of yesterday, another 1,000 in the municipalities. While those who work will keep their pension intact. Also, the 740 new doctors in the Certification Centers and the expansion of irreversible diseases reduce the suffering. The seriously ill have their medicines at home. And everyone can now vote by mail or in special centers.”

Mr. Mitsotakis then emphasizes: “At the same time, public transport, with the new buses as well as with the Thessaloniki Metro, is becoming friendlier. The institution of the Personal Assistant is spreading. And the Digital Disability Card with the Electronic Register are increasingly fighting red tape. However, nothing is yet enough. We continue to build “A Greece with everyone, for everyone”. No exclusions and no restrictions on dreams.”
