“I know that a big issue of the private sector is access to credit and the availability of financing tools,” said Sokratis Famellos.
A meeting with productive bodies in view of the budget was held on Friday, December 6, at the offices of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance in Koumoundourou by the president Sokratis Famellos, with the participation of the parliamentary representative Nikos Pappas, the Head of the Economy Department Haris Mamoulakis and the press representative Giorgos Karameros.
In his introductory statement, the president of SYRIZA – PS pointed out that “the beautified picture being broadcast by the government about the Greek economy is inconsistent with some fundamentals as we have a budget of large surpluses and austerity when we can have real investment and new quality jobs».
Referring to the position of SYRIZA – PS on the production model of the Greek economy, Sokratis Famellos said:
“Our goal is one strong private sectorwhich will support the welfare state but also a strong state that will control and regulate the market but will have as a key feature planning and a strong rule of law.
This ensures healthy competition and the protection of the consumer and especially of vulnerable social groups.
We believe that a strong private sector is a pluralistic one. We want an entrepreneurship that is not state-fed or that survives due to a privileged relationship with funding. We want an entrepreneurship that stands both in Greece and abroad».
Speaking about the government’s choice to turn a blind eye to profiteering, Sokratis Famellos underlined that “the market and households have been deprived in the last four years of almost 20 billion. euros, which are the surplus profits of the large oligopolistic groups”, repeating the position of SYRIZA – PS for “regulating and controlling the market in order to prevent surplus profits».
“This money is missing from businesses, professionals and scientists, while at the same time they have to deal with extortionhe said and added:
“I know that a big issue in the private sector is access to credit and the availability of financing tools. Yesterday, in the Parliament, after a long time and great persistence of SYRIZA – PS, Mr. Mitsotakis admitted that the government’s policy against the excess profits of the banks is insufficient. But many billions have already left businesses and households and are in bank coffers».
The meeting was attended by the president of the Greek Chamber of Commerce, Konstantinos Kollias, the General Secretary of SETE, Giorgos Vernikos, the coordinator of the economic analysis department of ESEE, Charalambos Arachovas and the scientific officer of the Institute of IME – GSEVEE, Apostolos Bokas.
