He is leaving at the end of the year after five years as head of the Prime Minister’s economic office – What he says in his post
The Head of the Prime Minister’s Financial Office, Alexis Patelis, announced his resignation through his social media accounts.
He took over at a time when the Greek economy was in a bad state, the Greek economy is now on another level, as he describes it in his post and he considers that he has come full circle in this position.
Alexis Patelis will remain until December 31, while his successor will be announced soon, according to the information.
The post of Alexis Patelis:
Five and a half years ago, the Prime Minister made me the extremely honorable offer to take over as Head of the Finance Office.
In 2019, our country was still under capital restrictions. The greatest economic achievement of this government is the return to investment grade and stability. This achievement marks the return of our country to an environment of reliability, rapid growth and opportunity.
Having had a long career in the private sector, I have been given the opportunity to serve my country for which I will be forever grateful.
I informed the Prime Minister of my intention—after five years—to complete my work at the Prime Ministership at the end of the year.
I want to thank everyone with whom I worked, but above all, I express my deep appreciation for the confidence the Prime Minister has shown me and for the honor of contributing to the best of my abilities to the collective government effort.
Although we still have a way to go, economic growth is more than double the European average and the reforms implemented have led to lower unemployment, a significant reduction in debt, increased investment and regained credibility abroad. 2025 is very different from 2019.
Our country has enormous potential, and under the leadership of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the country is moving steadily towards a better future for all.
