“He throws numbers and constantly lies to create impressions”, said the representative of PASOK, Kostas Tsoukalas
His spokesman PASOK-Movement for ChangeKostas Tsoukalas commented on ERT’s “Weekend from 5” program on the Government’s claims that they are talking about twelve increases in wages and pensions in 2025, saying that “New Democracy” is “throwing numbers and constantly lying” while adding “the only thing we have seen is a 2.4% increase in pensions and nothing else
As said by Mr. Tsoukalas “The Government has as its flag the 1% reduction of the insurance contribution to the employer contributions, but nowhere does it say that it is increasing the contributions by 2.7% for approximately 700,000 self-employed professionals. Here we have a continuous fallacy”.
With reference to the issue of banks, he repeated PASOK-KINAL’s proposal for an extraordinary taxation of 5% on banks’ profits, recalling “the wide gap between the very low deposit rate and the very high lending rate, from which they save huge excess profits” .
He underlined that “the Government he didn’t talk about the banks for two years now. Suddenly, as soon as he realized that he was being squeezed by the political pressure we are bringing, he came to say that he would intervene. We, in order to facilitate and help her, brought an amendment based on the decision 168/2024 of the Supreme Court which deemed abusive the terms of the banks’ contracts where they say that, while the bank has the right when the Euribor increases to increase the interest rate, when it is reduced he has the right not to reduce it. Areios Pagos said it is illegal.
He pointed out that what PASOK-KINAL is asking for is this reasoning of the Supreme Court to become the law of the state.
