The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, visited yesterday, Monday, December 23, the frigate “Psara” which is sailing during its detention in the Aegean Sea.

As announced, Mr. Dendias remained on the frigate until this morning, Tuesday, December 24, while a delegation of the crew sang Christmas carols.

The minister was accompanied by the head of the GETHA, general Dimitrios Houpis, the head of the General Directorate of Defense, Vice-Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras PN and the head of the Fleet, Vice-Admiral Polychronis Koulouris PN.

Mr. Dendias was given a tour of the frigate, informed about the ship’s mission and talked to crew members.

“I came with the head of the GETHA General Hoopes and the head of the General Vice Admiral Katara, to stay one night with the ship that is on duty and to wish you “Happy Birthday”. To everyone, to each of you and to your families, from whom you will be far away this Christmas,” the Minister of National Defense said, among other things.

“In addition to the wishes for the holidays, I would like to thank you for your service to the country. For the excellent manner in which you operated in Operation “Shields” in the Red Sea and to assure you what you already know. That you are the providers of security for every Greek woman and every Greek man”, he underlined.

“Greek society is proud of you. It shows in every metric. The Armed Forces are extremely highly regarded by the Greek people. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for your services to the country. Once again happy birthday and happy new year”, concluded Mr. Dendias.
