From today, January 1, 2025, Greece assumes, at a particularly critical juncture, the position of a non-permanent member of the Security Council of United Nations Organizationas stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis in his message for the start of Greece’s mandate.
“Greece becomes, in practice, a co-producer of the international policy for the global security architecture with a substantial say, role and responsibility in global developments”, notes the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“Dedicated to the exercise of foreign policy principles and values ​​and International Law, Greece looks forward to acting as a stabilizing factor, to be the bridge between North and South, East and West and to contribute to the restoration of the true meaning of the imperative for the peaceful resolution of disputes”.
“With the aim of defending the purpose of the Organization, that is to unite all the nations of the world to work for peace, we will, during our two-year term, engage in bilateral and multilateral synergies with all the states of the United Nations, promoting multilateral diplomacy and the Principles of the United Nations Charter”, he concludes.
