“It is imperative that the Opposition not use the presidential election as a tool for minor party millstones” – What he said about the new Onassia Schools
For the loss of the former prime minister Kostas Simitisthe scenarios for the Presidency of the Republic and for the new Onassia Schoolsthe Minister of Education spoke Kyriakos Pierrakakis in an interview with on Wednesday morning.
“Kostas Simitis ruled Greece for 8 years, he left a historical mark with some spikes, such as the entry of Cyprus into the EU and the entry of Greece into the EMU. Of course, the full historical evaluation will be done by competent lips, it is not for the here and now” the minister initially pointed out, adding:
“I remember how Americans talked about the past and their former presidents in an inclusive way. That is, for Democrats to know a great Republican president, for Republicans to know a great Democratic president, and to see the good and the bad in the legacy. This also concerns us and we have partially mastered it. In other words, for Konstantinos Karamanlis, one will not find many who do not say a good historical reason for his great historical legacy”.
As for his crash episode Adonis Georgiadis with her Aphrodite Latinopoulou on the occasion of the latter’s comment about the late former prime minister, the minister expressed his disgust at the fact that those who divide in life choose to divide in death for 15 minutes of publicity. “There is the term trash TV, there is also trash politics that came to the fore during the years of the financial crisis. In recent years, with the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, we have managed to make a lot of progress and get out of it. The world knows very well that we should never return to trash politics.”
“It is imperative that the Opposition not use the PtD election as a tool”
In a question about the presidential election, Mr. Pierrakakis underlined that it concerns the production of consensus, something that was instrumentalized by the Opposition along the way. “We are in the final stretch, there is no point in getting into nomenclature or descriptions, we will wait for the Prime Minister’s announcements. It is imperative that the Opposition does not use the presidential election as a tool for minor party millstones”.
Regarding Education issues, he described the donation of the Onassis Foundation for the new schools as important. “We will develop schools in areas that have social and economic challenges. We will go to existing school infrastructures, but these schools will have a new institutional architecture and in this context we will go to areas throughout Greece that we will announce very soon,” he stressed.
“The Onassia Schools will be similar to the Model and Experimental Schools, but it will be a new type of school. The idea is to invest in this multiplicity, to be able to have a plurality in the system. As in other schools, the aim here too is for new innovations to spread more widely in the education system. In Onassia, the innovations will have to do with the development of teachers and their overall professional path, with additional hours for groups and beyond the school timetable. We are talking about 22 high schools and high schools, so about 11 regions. We will start with some in September this year and finish next year
