The Prime Minister arrived in Cairo to participate in the 10th Tripartite Summit of Greece-Egypt-Cyprus – At 14:20 the leaders will make statements to the press
The prime minister arrived in Cairo Kyriakos Mitsotakis in order to participate in the 10th Tripartite Summit of Greece-Egypt–Cyprus.
The Greek Prime Minister is currently having a bilateral meeting with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
At 12:30 a private meeting of the leaders of the three countries will take place, followed by extended talks by the delegations.
Finally at 14:20 the leaders will make statements to the press.
The message of the 10th Greece-Egypt-Cyprus Summit held on Wednesday in Cairo
Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Nikos Christodoulidis are expected to deliver a message on the strategic importance of Greece-Egypt-Cyprus cooperation, as an axis of stability in a period of realignment in the Middle East and in the midst of crises at the regional and international level, at the 10th Summit Greece-Egypt-Cyprus Summit held in Cairo. The tripartite summit is being held at a time when the landscape in the Middle East is being reshaped and the situation in Syria remains fluid.
The three leaders are expected to send a message of strengthening cooperation in a wide range of sectors, with an emphasis on energy and energy security – a sector dominated by the Greece-Egypt GREGY electricity interconnection project, which will make our country an energy bridge of Egypt with Europe.
Regional developments with an emphasis on Syria are among the topics to be discussed. The prime minister will reiterate Greece’s position on the need for an inclusive process with the participation of all Syrians and send the message that the new Syrian leadership must demonstrate in practice that it respects International Law and that the rights of all religious and national minorities.
It is recalled that the last visit of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Cairo took place in March 2024, as part of a joint visit with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and European leaders for the signing of the EU-Egypt Strategic and Partnership Agreement, for which Greece took the lead in emphasizing the strategic importance of Egypt’s stability to Europe, as well and the importance of Cairo in containing migration flows to European countries.
