With a bill presented during the Council of Ministers, the Government attempts to tighten the legislative framework for the sale, offer and disposal of tobacco and related products and alcoholic beverages to minors.

In particular, the bill is expected to end the sale of tobacco and alcohol products to minors.

The bill presented during the Council of Ministers under the Prime Minister was specified by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and Deputy Minister Dimitris Vartzopoulos.

What does the bill provide:

  • Establishing an effective control mechanism to prevent the access of minors to alcohol by introducing compulsory identity demonstration by the seller at all points of sale, establishing strict administrative sanctions and re -resetting alcohol to minors, From ELAS and the compulsory announcement of private events held at entertainment centers.

At the same time, an effective control mechanism is established to prevent minors’ access to tobacco products and related products, namely:

  • The mandatory demonstration of identity by the seller at all points of sale and the establishment of strict administrative sanctions in cases of violations.
  • The purchase of tobacco and related products and in particular.
  • A mechanism for evaluating and controlling the compliance of tobacco and their products with the requirements and specifications of Law 4419/2016 is established.
  • The conditions for traffic on the market, electrically heated products and non -smoke products, the universal ban on the sale, supply and disposal of minors and the provision of corresponding sanctions are regulated.
