“There are people in Turkey who believe that they can again create the Ottoman Empire, including parts of Greece, Syria, Iraq, Iran and the Caucasus. It is my hope that this is a dream of a summer night, but this creates many problems in relationships with Greece and within NATO. “The Minister of National Defense said.
He also explained that the issue of Turkey has acquired international dimensionswhile he said he hoped that Washington will exercise constructive pressure to Anchor to comply with international law and not to cause a new crisis on the Eastern NATO front.
Referring to close relationship Trump and Erdogan allegedly have had, said that Mr Trump could “whisper in the Turkish leader’s ear”, reminding him that “international law” and international sea rules “is a way of life in the modern world”.
‘It would not be good at all’ added N. Dendias, “For NATO, not even for the US, to encourage Turkey to create a huge problem on the Eastern Front of the Alliance.”
