For the third time, the Court of Rome did not ratify the temporary detention of immigrants and refugees that had been transported by the Italian Navy to the two closed centers of northern Albania. The 43 asylum seekers in Shengin and Guader arrive in Bari and are to be released. Six others had already returned two days ago.

The Rome government recently entrusted the relevant jurisdiction to the Courts of Appeals, deducting it from the special areas of courts involved in immigration and refugees.

But the verdict did not change compared to last October and November. The Rome Court of Appeal did not ratify the reservation and added that the Court of Justice of the European Union, which is expected to indicate, on 25 February, on what criteria should the safe countries of origin of immigrants be set. In the past, European judges had made it clear, however, that if human rights and those of minorities do not have absolute respect in a country, it cannot be considered safe.
