More than 6,000 people who entered Greece illegally returned to their countries of origin, the Minister of Migration and Asylum, Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, told SKAI, referring to the recent deportations of 40 third -country nationals.

“Returns continue, but everyone who is not entitled to stay? Not yet. The Ministry of Immigration informs the authorities responsible for identifying and arresting those who have to leave. ” Those arrested are led to the pre -departure centers (PROPA), where their return is launched through consultation with the countries of origin. “

About the case of TempsMr. Panagiotopoulos noted: “It is clear that society requires answers. Primarily the parents, but also the society, which seems harsed behind parents. We cannot avoid politicizing the issue unfortunately, and is doing harm to the whole affair. Political confrontation and parties’ attempt to reap political benefits or hurt the government should not disorient from the basic objective: the rendering of justice, to perform responsibility there belonging to, but also the necessary interventions for the safety of rail transport. This is the big question – to ensure that such tragic events will not be repeated. “

With reference to PASOK’s request for recommendation pre -trial committee Mr Panagiotopoulos stressed: “PASOK’s request for a pre -trial committee is dominated these days in public debate. The New Democracy has accepted it, as it has done with other requests for investigation through parliamentary committees – formerly with examination, now with pre -trial. At the same time, however, the case is already being investigated by justice. There is a sense that there are delays and scenarios for concealment. I will say that justice does its work. Investigating such a complex case is not always easy to move at the speed that the average citizen would want. . Justice is independent. . This case file is bulky, with extensive evidence that is constantly enriched. It includes technical reports, experts and specialized analyzes, elements that make the process complex and time -consuming. The investigative process is governed by secrecy, although, strangely, many aspects of it are analyzed daily in television broadcasts. What I have to say is that the case is evolving in the way it should, based on institutional processes and the seriousness it deals with. “

About the politicization of Tempi Mr Panagiotopoulos emphasized: “When a case is transferred to parliamentary procedures, such as examinations or pre -trial committees, it inevitably acquires a strong political character. The nature of these committees creates a dipole: on the one hand, the accusers, and on the other, the advocates. Thus, the process is often surrounded by a cloak of political confrontation, which can alter the essence of the investigation. On the contrary, when justice is allowed to do its work independently, the results are reliable and documented. So far, the investigation has given fruit: More than 50 criminal proceedings have already been brought, which proves that there are specific categories and data against people involved. At the same time, the evidence is constantly enriched, as the case file includes many technical issues that require a thorough analysis. The prime minister acknowledges the strong social protest, as much of the public is perceived by any delay as an attempt to conceal. However, in such complex cases, where the evidence is constantly expanding, the rapid completion of the procedure is not always possible. As for the part of the case file associated with political persons and transmitted to the House, all the details are available and accessible – is not “Locked” in a drawer of the Speaker of the House. Anyone who wishes has the ability to be informed. Some did it immediately, others not. In no case, however, this is not the responsibility of the Prime Minister or the Government. “
