After the Election of Kostas Tasoula to Presidency of the Republic the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakishe expressed his confidence that he would respond to his high role, and noted that his election is an institutional victory that proves how unfortunately they were “attempts to involve the first citizen in small -party competitions”.

The Prime Minister’s statement:

“Parliament today elected the 10th President of the Third Hellenic Republic. I want to congratulate him warmly Constantine Tasoulaconfident that he will respond to his high role as a symbol of our national unity, but also as a guarantor of democratic normalcy and constitutional stability.

For his mission, he has the prestige as well as political experience. Characteristics he has already shown in the public positions he has consistently served for decades, but mainly from the headquarters of the Speaker of the House, a office where he had emerged with broad inter -party support. It therefore has the respect of all of us.

Today’s election also constitutes an institutional victory of the state, as it ends perfectly with the relative constitutional prediction, proving how unfortunate there were some attempts to involve the first citizen in small -party competitions. The immediate future will surely confirm it.

In an unstable international environment, then, the political life of the country evolves with confidence and responsibility. Constantly on the path of democracy, economic development and social progress, directions that will certainly contribute to the new President of the Republic.

I again wish him good power, in the name of all Greeks and all Greeks.
